ＪＡＬホノルルマラソン
JAL Honolulu Marathon

私たちは、今年のＪＡＬホノルルマラソンに色々な形でお手伝いさせていただきました。

ホノルルまでの機内（12/10～12のHNL行き便）では、ご搭乗頂いた感謝の気持ちをお伝え

すると共に、マラソンに参加される方々への完走を祈願し、社員が１枚１枚心を込めて書いた

メッセージカードとリストバンドをお配り致しました。

お配りしていく中で、皆様のホノルルマラソンに懸ける思いや、以前に参加した時の思い出など

を伺うことができ、ＪＡＬホノルルマラソンという大会の素晴らしさを実感致しました。

そして、ホノルルマラソン当日。

ゴール地点でランナーの方々のお迎えをさせて頂きました。
まだ夜も明けない６時半、車いす部門男子・女子の１位の方々をお迎えし、その後、７時過ぎには

男子・女子の１位の方々をＦＩＮＩＳＨテープと共にお迎え致しました。

テレビでいつも見ている時とは違い、間近で見るトップランナーの方々の走りは迫力があり、また、

笑顔が輝いていました。
その後も続々とランナーの方々がゴールされましたが、ゴール時のガッツポーズや、笑顔、そして

涙には色々な思いが込められているように思いました。

そんな姿を拝見し、思わず昨年の自分の姿と重ね合わせ、涙が込み上げてまいりました。

私自身、昨年ランナーとしてこの大会に参加致しましたが、４２．１９５㎞を励ましあって共に走った

友人との思い出や、ゴールした時の感動は今でも忘れられず、一生の宝物となっています。

ホノルルマラソンがこんなにもランナーに愛されている理由は、ホノルルののんびりと流れる空気の

中、ランナーと地元のボランティアの方の応援が一体となり、皆が大会を楽しんでいるところなのでは

ないかと感じました。

そして、そんな素敵な大会に携わることができ、大変嬉しく思いました。来年もまた、皆さんの応援を

させていただくことを楽しみにしています。

We supported runners in the JAL Honolulu marathon in various ways this year.
On the Honolulu flights (12/10-12), we distributed message cards and wristbands. 

JALways staff wrote each message card, one by one, thanking the passengers and encouraging the runners. As we distributed the cards and wristbands, we realized the passengers' passion and heard their memories of past Marathons. Once again, we were impressed by the awesomeness of the JAL Honolulu Marathon.

On the day of the Honolulu Marathon, I held the finish tape at goal line and welcomed the runners. Before the dawn at 6:30AM, I welcomed the top runners of the wheel-chair division. Then I held the tape as the winners of the regular Marathon division arrived around 7:00AM.

Unlike viewing it through the TV screen, seeing with our very eyes the power of the top runners' performances was amazing as they finished with their beaming smiles.
Later, as I saw the runners finish one after another, I saw their various feelings in their fist-pumping, smiles, and tears upon reaching the finish line.

I remembered my own unforgettable feelings and experience running and finishing the 42.195km with my friends in the Marathon last year. I will treasure those memories the rest of my life.

The Honolulu Marathon is so popular because the runners and supporting volunteers come together to really enjoy the event in the relaxed atmosphere.

And we were so happy to be involved with this wonderful event. We all look forward to supporting and helping with the Marathon again next year!
