空のエコ：私たちにできること
JALways Eco Project

ＪＡＬグループでは、地球環境を守る取り組みとして「空のエコ」を実施しています。

ジャルウェイズの機内でも、乗務員のマイカップ、マイボトルの持参、資源ゴミの分別回収、

燃料を軽減するため乗務に持参する荷物の軽量化を心がけたり、また地上待機中の機内

温度の上昇を抑えるために客室内の窓の日よけを下ろすなど、できることからエコに取り組

んでいます。

今回は、そんな私たちが機内でコツコツ集めているものをご紹介します。

■ タイではプルタブが義足に

空き缶を分別する際に、缶のプルタブを回収しています。

タイの乗務員が1998年から集め始めました。 タイでは純度

の高いアルミニウムを含むプルタブが、義足の関節用部品

として生まれ変わるのだそうです。

個人で始まったこの活動ですが、今ではジャルウェイズ全体

に広まり、集めたプルタブは、タイの義肢財団にお届けして

います。これまでに3,000脚以上の義足に生まれ変わりました。     

■ エコキャップも集めています

機内で使用したペットボトルのキャップも集められます。これもジャルウェイズ乗務員の呼びかけ

から始まりました。

この「エコキャップ」はリサイクルすることで、世界の子供たちにワクチンを届ける活動です。

ジャルウェイズではこれまで95,120個のキャップを回収、約１２０人分のポリオワクチンの購入

資金となりました。（8/06時点）　
  

現在、成田、タイのオフィスにはプルタブとエコキャップを集める二つの箱が設置されています。

タイで集めたエコキャップは成田へ、成田で集めたプルタブをタイへ運んでいます。

「一人では大変なことも、力をあわせればできることがある」

これからも、地球のために、お客様のために 「わたしたちにできること」　を考え取り組んで

いきたいと思います。

To protect the global environment, the JAL group is executing the Eco-flight Project.

We bring our own My-cup or My-bottle on the flight and collect the recyclable waste

in the cabin, and we practice to lighten the our luggage weight on duty trips to save

the fuel consumption.  Also during aircraft ground time, cabin crew shut the sun-shades

of the cabin windows to control rise in temperature within the cabin as much as possible.

We, the cabin attendants, do whatever we can do for Eco project.

In this issue, we will introduce some of the recyclable things we collect in the cabin for the

project.

- The pull tabs from cans for artificial legs in Thailand.
When we classify the cabin waste for recycling, we collect the pull tab from drink cans one

by one.  This project was started from individually by the Thai cabin attendants in 1998 and

now widely extends to the entire JALways cabin crew.

The pull tab contains aluminum of high purity and can be recycled for parts of the joints of artificial legs in Thailand. Collected pull tabs are delivered to the Prostheses Foundation in Thailand, where more than 3,000 free artificial legs have been provided to poor amputees.

- We also collect Eco-caps, recyclable PET bottle caps.
Caps from PET bottles served in the cabin are also collected.  This activity was started by JALways cabin attendants as well.  Recycling Eco-caps provides poliomyelitis vaccine to children in the world.  We have collected more than 95,000 caps so far, and caps have been converted to 120 doses of the poliomyelitis vaccine for children. (as of 8/06)

Collection boxes for pull tabs and eco-caps are set up in our Narita and Thai offices.

Collected eco-caps are forwarded to Narita and pull tabs are forwarded to Thailand.

Something difficult to do alone, can be accomplished when working all together.  We will continue to do what we can for the passengers and the earth.
